Smartphone ini berjalan pada sistem operasi Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop). Pada sektor dapur pacunya, Samsung Galaxy J2 mengandalkan Chipset Exynos 3475 Quad yang dipacu processor bertenaga Quad-core dengan kecepatan 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7. Untuk menghadirkan tampilan grafis yang mumpuni, Samsung mempercayakannya pada GPU Mali-T720.
